Pardus Mapper

Use the mapper below to add your own data!

Updated with the new Gap cluster.

Here are the links to our pardus mapper.

Ensure that your system clock is set to the correct time and timezone!

To install, first install a Java Runtime Environment (JRE). On the given link, click on the "Java Runtime Environment (JRE)" link. You do not need the entire JDK. Then, create a directory for the Pardus mapper at your preferred location on your harddrive. Download the pardusmapper.jar file to this location. Ensure that the pardusmapper.jar file retains the .jar extension; some browsers have been known to change it to .zip. Double-click on the jar file to start the mapper.

Once in the mapper, you are presented with a view of the Pardus universe. From here, you can double-click on any sector to see a detailed map of the sector. Also, you can right-click on individual sector to get more detailed information and to modify the information.

The detailed map shows the locations of fields, objects, and monsters. The colors indicate the type of field. The icons indicate objects. To define fields, click on the square for the field and either click on the toolbar icons or use the keyboard shortcuts:

To define buildings, double-click on an empty square or right-click on the square and select Create Building.... A dialog box pops up and allows you to set the details. To define a planet, right-click and select Create Planet.... To define a wormhole, right-click and select Create Wormhole.... To define a monster, right-click and select Create Monster.... Monsters can be created on top of other objects. Monsters are outlined in red, even if a building is present. If you add notes to a field, the square is outlined in orange.

To return to the universe view, click the Universe button. To save the file, click Save. The information you have entered is saved into a map_new.xml file.

To determine the cost of the lowest AP path between two points, first go to the File->Preferences.... Set your drive type and wormhole and x-hole AP costs. Press OK. Find the starting point for your path and right-click and choose Set Path Start (or press the 1 key). Find the end of your path and choose Set Path Finish (or press the 2 key). The shortest path is highlighted in green on both the universe and sector maps. The total cost is listed at the bottom of the window. The first time you use this functionality in a particular session, initial data must be compiled. This will take some time, though further paths will be very fast.

Updating the map

To get updates to your map from me, just come back to this page and download a new copy of the map.xml file. Go ahead and replace your map.xml file with the new one. None of your changes will be overwritten since they are saved to the map_new.xml file.

To send me your changes to be incorporated into the master map, you can send the map_new.xml (not the map.xml) file to pardusmap@earthlink.net. Place [pardusmap] in the subject line so that I know you're not sending me junk.
